As I mentioned in a previous post, Tina Turner is touring again and is putting on a first class performance. This past weekend, Tina was in Atlanta. Although we went down to Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Keli and I didn’t wind up catching the show because we got caught up talking with Bob Tully, Cody Lieberman and the MoBE crew outside of the arena.
Amway Global™ is the sponsor of Tina’s tour and has some mobile exhibits on wheels that follow the tour all over the US and Canada. The Mobile Brand Experiences, or MoBE for short, showcase two of Amway Global’s exclusive brands. To watch a short video and 360° virtual tour of each of the MoBE exhibits, simply click on the brand name:
So after talking with the crew for a bit, Keli and I were asked if we would mind a quick video interview. Not really knowing what to expect but, being excited about the exhibits and our businesses, we happily obliged.
Earlier tonight I noticed that Cody had posted the video on YouTube and his blog. I can’t help but post it here too. Keli & I thought it was pretty cool to be the first and only IBOs so far to be video interviewed on the tour. It was a pretty impromptu, curbside interview but you can hear some other people in the background that were also checking out the exhibits. If you see on Tina’s tour schedule that she’s coming near you, even if you aren’t able to stay for the concert, make sure you go check out the exhibits.
By now, I think that we’ve all come in contact one way or another with our struggling economy. Either personally or someone we know, we are seeing the effects of change. Seeing businesses around us close and construction slow it’s evident that the issues of today’s economy affects us all. In times of change, like these, I believe that it’s better to change with the tide than to fight it. With change comes opportunity. Opportunities are good, though, only if we take advantage of them. To do that, we usually have to do something a little different or maybe just adjust the way we think about something.
With the rapidly advancing technology of today, change is increasingly common. From the way we communicate to the way we do business, from cell phones to computers and more, we are constantly finding new and sometimes better ways to do what we are already doing. Often, these new opportunities/technologies offer us the ability to do things faster and more conveniently allowing us (in theory) to do more of the things we’d rather be doing. [Read more →]
Today, Keli and I took off in the Jeep again. It was another beautiful day-a crisp 65 degrees and a clear, blue, fall sky which was a perfect backdrop for the golden leaves we were driving through. We like to take the back roads when we can and recently found a neat little road, pictured here, that loops around to our short-cut going toward Amicalola Falls. We went over to Dahlonega for their ‘Gold Rush Days’. It was a nice day to get out and walk around but, honestly, the drive there and back was far more fun for me.
I don’t know why but, I just love getting out and just driving through the mountains. I like to get lost and find a new way home or see something new. Maybe it’s simple curiosity or my adventurous nature or perhaps I’m still just a kid at heart. [Read more →]
Last night, I posted that I had not taken any pictures of my Jeep rides. This morning about 8 or so, Keli asked me if I wanted to get out and take some pictures. Even though I don’t consider myself a ‘morning person’, I think I was out of bed and in the Jeep in about 10 minutes!
It was about 62 degrees. The sun was rising. An awesome breeze through the trees. The birds were chirping. What a great way to start the day!
We took some pictures this time. The light that comes through the trees in the morning here is incredible! While there are only so many pictures one can take of a Jeep, the pictures one is able to take while IN a Jeep are endless. Living in Big Canoe especially, it’s actually more like “What do I NOT take a picture of?”
Here are some pictures we took this morning that I thought you’d enjoy. Click on any of them to enlarge the photo. [Read more →]
In my last post, I mentioned how there were more important things to do with our time than running household errands. I want to mention, here, that there are better ways to burn gasoline than running the same old routine errands back and forth. Did you know that your gas can be used for entertainment? No, I’m not talking about arson or a blaze of any kind (although I do love a good bonfire party). I’m talking about getting outside and just going for a ride.
This weekend, I bought a new Jeep. Buying a new vehicle usually isn’t much fun but those guys over at Ed Voyles made it easy for me. I’m so glad too because I have had such a blast these last couple of days! I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. I have honestly never had more fun driving any other car. More fun than the convertible BMW we had and certainly more fun than the X3 that you can barely see behind our new Jeep in the picture below!! Both are great vehicles and fun to drive BUT, you can’t climb a mountain with them like my friend Greg and I did today or take busy friends out in the middle of a work day just because you knew they needed it and would enjoy it!
I really wanted to take some pictures of some of the trails I’ve driven and some of the beautiful sights that I would have never hiked to see. I like to hike too but, I’m not hiking the 200 miles that I was able to go over the last couple of days. I meant to take some pictures but my hands wouldn’t release the steering wheel and the grin on my face must have affected my brain to the point where I simply forgot to take the pictures. All I got was this one Sunday morning before I got behind the wheel and caught ‘Jeep fever’. I think that my new Jeep will even make work easier knowing that when my day is done, I’ll be able to hop behind the wheel with the top down and cruise through the streets and woods of Big Canoe and North Georgia and pull over pretty much anywhere I want and look up at the stars and moon while all stress and worry fades away.
So, don’t worry so much over the price of gas. Make the most of it! Make driving fun. Cut back on the errands and do more of the things that you’ve been putting off doing. I don’t know if Jeep fever is contagious and trekking through the woods in a Jeep may not be your thing. So, what is?! I can help you with the errand thing like I mentioned in my last post, ‘Something to Consider’. All you have to do is think about what you’d rather do with your time!
Before moving here to Big Canoe, I considered many things. As I considered what was important, quality of life seemed to be at the core of what Keli and I were looking to achieve. There are many things about the community of Big Canoe that was very appealing to us. For one, the true sense of community one feels here.
I had lived in Atlanta for the past 20 years and in several different areas from Stone Mountain to Duluth and from Sandy Springs and Dunwoody to Buckhead and Midtown. Being in the hospitality industry as I was, one tends to meet many people and gain many friends. In that time however, I honestly never felt the sense of community and belonging like I do here in this short period of time.
I also found that there were certain pursuits while living in Atlanta that simply weren’t necessary to living a fulfilling life. So, as I was considering moving here, it came down to two core ideals that were important to me: Simplification and Optimization. [Read more →]

Ok so, I’m living in Big Canoe. As much as I like this mountain community, for those of you who don’t live here, that may equate to ‘Yeah well, good for you!’, ‘Big Deal!’ or ‘So What?’. I can understand that and also consider that there are many other amazing places to live as well as Big Canoe. What’s important though, I think, is that we are happy, right?
A friend recently asked me for some information about some supplements I am taking. I promised that I would send him some information and I always like to make good on my promises.
And since I get asked this often, I am posting this information here so that I can refer to it again later and also allow others that know me to know my secret to being able to work such long hours without getting run down or sick and typically stay in a good mood.
